Oct 21st 2021: MCSD BOE meeting

Hi Everyone-

A few members of the Friends of the Gazebo attended the Millbrook Central School Board meeting on Tuesday, October 19th.

We were able to let them know we have formed a group that is interested in the Preservation and Restoration of the Gazebo and have many people who have stepped up to the plate to help us reach this goal.

We also learned some interesting information from the meeting:

-The QR Code Surveys were sent out to 7,000 people. Only 188 people responded to the survey

-60% of those who answered the survey want the gazebo demolished. 36% would like to see it renovated. 8% would like to see it knocked down and replaced with a Prefab gazebo

-They have appointed two people on the Board to work directly with the Friends group; we are waiting for a meeting date to discuss next steps

-It seems that for some time there was confusion as to whose property the gazebo was on (village vs. school). They did in fact have a surveyor come and confirm it is school property.

-In general, they seemed very willing to work with the group and help us reach our goal.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns or ideas!

And as always, if you have any photos or memories of the gazebo, please send them to me.
