December 8th: MCSD Board Meeting follow up
Hi Everyone-
After much waiting, our contact from the MCSD has gotten back to me after their board meeting last night. Unfortunately, a few of the questions /ideas I asked were not brought up and answered.
I have followed up with our contacts there, and hope to hear more soon. If not, we will have to consider an alternate route to get these answers; it has been advised that I submit the questions in writing to the Secretary of the BOE for the next board meeting.

Here are answers that I received:
-Friends obtaining a 99 year lease of the Gazebo from the MCSD? - A lease agreement was not discussed at the board meeting.
-Purchasing the Gazebo & land from MCSD - Any divestiture of real property by the district would likely call for a public voter authorization and is not being considered at this time.
-Can we secure the structure for winter? - District maintenance staff will secure the structure for winter.
-Tax write-offs - Could be available through either direct donation to the district or through a proxy donation through a charitable organization (e.g. the Millbrook Education Foundation).
-Line items from restoration quote - Information from the quotes received can be made available by written request to the District's records access officer (me) as a FOIL type request.
-Comments from the QR surveys - Same as above note regarding FOIL requests.
-The President of the American Country House Foundation's offer to provide a class in surveying -This was not discussed.
-Ken McLaughlins: re our own inspection- As a state governmental entity, the district is required to comply with state building codes. We will be having the gazebo assessed along with all of our school buildings, grounds, and related structures during a comprehensive architectural and engineering assessment in the coming months. This will ensure that the gazebo assessment is in line with the codes under which the district is responsible to adhere to.
